Have you already applied for your director ID? If yes, then great, you have nothing further to do other than to send your director ID to us.
Director IDs are a sensitive number, so we encourage you to send this to us in a secure format (we suggest either phoning it through to our receptionist or your usual WMS contact, or sending an SMS).
Already have a director ID but can’t find it? Login to ABRS online using this link.
If you haven’t yet applied for your director ID
Director IDs are mandatory for all directors from 30 November 2022. Penalties apply for non compliance.
To apply for your director ID will in most cases take you less than 10 minutes once you have the required information.
WMS will assist where we can, however the application must be undertaken by the director because possession of your phone is required as part of the application process.
The process can be completed in three steps:
|Step||Purpose||Information Required||How to complete this step|
|1 – Setup a myGov ID||A myGovID is your digital identity for the purpose of accessing government online services. A myGovID is required before applying for a Director ID. Note, this is not the same as your myGov account.||1.Full name; and|
2.Date of birth; and
3.Personal email address; and
At least two of the following documents:
– driver’s licence or learner’s permit
– passport (not more than 3 years expired)
– birth certificate
– citizenship certificate
– visa (using your foreign passport)
If you don’t have two of the above documents, refer to this link.
|Follow the three step process within this link.|
|2 – Gather your documents||In additional to verifying your identity through myGovID, you are required to provide information from certain documents that the ATO knows about you.||– Your tax file number (TFN); and|
– Your residential address as held by the ATO; and
Two of the following documents:
– Bank account details (account held by ATO or earned interest within last 2 years);
– ATO notice of assessment issued within last 5 years;
– Retail or industry super fund account statement from last 5 years;
– Dividend statement from last 2 years;
– Centrelink payment summary issued within last 2 years;
– PAYG payment summary issued within last 2 years.
More details here.
|Simply gather the documents so that you have them on hand for the next step.|
|3 – Complete your online Director ID application||This is the online director ID application form.||You will need your phone handy with your recently installed myGovID app.||Use the ‘Apply Now’ link listed under step three on this website and follow the prompts.|
The ABRS have provided a very helpful 6 minute video walkthrough of the above three step process which we recommend watching prior to applying.
