Our firm was forever changed on Sunday afternoon with the unfortunate and sudden passing of our beloved Partner Anthony “AK” Karos. His passions were his family, friends and surfing. As fate would have it, his journey ended in a tragic surfing accident.

AK was born and bred on the southern end of the Gold Coast and joined the firm in our first few months of operation way back in 1994 as a fresh faced 21 year old. We instantly knew we had a keeper and he quickly became part of the fabric of the firm building strong relationships with all those he encountered. Many of those clients AK worked on in the early days are still clients of the firm.

In 2003 AK became an equity partner. In the same year, he married Trudi who he met while she was working at the firm. In addition to client work, he was the gatekeeper of our core values and in many respects, AK was the moral compass for the firm.

Those lucky enough to spend time with AK would know he was the life of every party and always made you feel special. The volume of tributes that have been rolling as the tragic news spread, is a testament to how many lives he touched.

He was always very proud of his Greek heritage and his car’s number plate was “Oopah” which is an expression of enthusiasm in Greek while smashing plates. That was AK, always enthusiastic, always caring and we will forever miss him dearly.

Our thoughts go out to Trudi, his daughters Liliana, Lexi and Indy-Lee as well as his father Greg and sister Fiona.
